This morning the Caltrain was coming, the gate was down, the signal was flashing, and some guy proceeded to walk his bikes across the tracks anyway.  I was thinking he was pretty stupid, for a number of reasons, including but not limited to the fact that I have seen those trains totally overshoot the platform. And, indeed, this train did overshoot the platform.  By then a number of us had gathered, waiting for the gate to go up.  Unlike in the past, the train did not back up - it just sat there and then left.  So, that was something new.  The next train was late besides.  The last couple weeks of being a loyal Caltrain patron have been pretty rough, to say the least.
